Soccer Badgers Hit The Road To Battle The Nittany Lions
October 03, 2003 | Men's Soccer
After a big win over in-state rival UW-Milwaukee, the Wisconsin men's soccer team looks to build on its momentum as it travels to University Park, Pa., Sunday to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions.
For the Badgers (6-6-0, 0-1-0 Big Ten), Sunday's contest represents a chance to get back to .500 in conference play, having dropped a 1-0 decision to Ohio State last weekend.
Penn State (6-3-0, 1-0-0 Big Ten) most recently defeated Northwestern 3-1 on Thursday evening at PSU's Jeffrey Field.
Wisconsin will be bringing several weapons into Sunday's game. Junior forward Jed Hohlbein ranks among the Big Ten's top five in several categories, including shots, points, goals and assists.
On the defensive side of the field, junior goalkeeper and tri-captain Eric Hanson is in top condition, having earned his conference-leading third shutout of the season in Wednesday's game against Milwaukee.
Last year, the Badgers bested the Nittany Lions 2-1 at the McClimon Complex in regular-season play, only to fall to Penn State 1-0 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
