Odenthal Named All-Mideast Region

Jill Odenthal, a junior on the University of Wisconsin volleyball team, has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Mideast Region team. It is her first selection to the 12-player all-region team. Odenthal's name will now be placed on the national ballot for AVCA All-America honors.
The 6-0 left-handed opposite hitter was named to the 2003 All-Big Ten team. Odenthal ranked second on the UW team with 3.58 kills per game and also had the second-best hitting percentage of .307. A native of Geneva, Ill., Odenthal started all 33 matches this season on the right side. She recorded a season-best 48 service aces (0.41/game), which ranked second on the team. Odenthal also added 1.66 digs and 0.33 blocks per game.
Odenthal led the 23rd-ranked Badgers to a 22-11 record in 2003. Wisconsin advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, upsetting 22nd-ranked Arizona, 3-1, in the first round before losing to 16th-seeded Texas A&M. The Badgers finished fourth in the Big Ten Conference at 13-7.
