Badgers Advance Four Swimmers to Friday's Finals

Four swimmers advanced to four out of the five individual swimming event finals at the 2003 Big Ten Conference Championships after Friday morning's prelims session. Wisconsin also holds the top seeds in the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay tonight.
Advancing to two individual finals, junior Matt Marshall swam the second and third best times this morning in the 100 back (47.77) and 100 fly (47.63), respectively. Sophomore Adam Mania joins Marshall in the 100 back (48.53), the only finals event with two UW swimmers.
Two Badgers edged their way into tonight's finals with eighth-place times this morning. Junior Dale Rogers earned a finals' spot in the 200 free and sophomore Tim Liebhold will swim in tonight's 400 IM championship race.
Badgers contributing in the consolation finals tonight will be senior Brink Ciferri (400 IM), sophomore Eric Wiesner (200 free) and Mania (100 fly).
Day two finals at the Big Ten championships start at 6 p.m. central.
