Wisconsin Fairs Well in Spring Opener

After finishing the second round of play delayed yesterday, Wisconsin shot a final round 306 strokes to place in a tie for ninth at the Emerald Coast Collegiate in Pensacola, Fla. Their first 18-hole round of 320 strokes and second round of 309 totaled for a 54-hole score of 935. W. Florida took the medal this weekend with scores of 294, 299, and 295 to total 888 strokes. Austin Peay State (307-296-302'905) and Wofford College 307-307-294'908) followed in second and third, respectively, of 17 teams.
Senior Joel Rechlicz had his best finish in the 2002-03 season in a tie for 17th with rounds of 76-78-76'230. Sophomore Kevin Tassistro finished second for the Badgers in a tie for 44th (82-76-79'237). Sophomores Dylan Esterling in a tie for 58th (78-78-83'239) and Brian Brodell in a tie for 74th (88-77-78'243) also turned in scores for Wisconsin.
