UW Swimmers Wrap Up Competition at U.S. Nationals

University of Wisconsin swimmers completed competition at the ConocoPhillips U.S. National Championships in style Saturday, as five different Badgers earned place-finishes.
Senior Bethany Pendleton wrapped up her productive week by earning her second top-10 finish of the Championships. The Hood River, Ore., native finished eighth in the 200-meter individual medley in a time of 2:19.38. She placed eighth in the 400 IM earlier in the week.
Seniors Matt Marshall and Dale Rogers and junior Adam Mania each placed in the 50 freestyle. Marshall led the way with an 11th-place finish (23.34), Mania tied for 14th (23.44) and Rogers placed 20th (23.54). The trio all placed in the 100 freestyle Wednesday at the Championships.
Sophomore Sarah Hernandez added another place-finish for the Badgers in the 50 freestyle on the women's side. The native of Chico, Calif., finished fourth in the 'B' final and 12th overall in a time of 26.40.
Wisconsin Aquatics tied for 18th in the final men's team standings with 33 points. The women finished with 24 points, good for a tie for 30th place.
