Tassistro and Badgers Place Sixth At Badger Invitational

Dropping two strokes off his first-round performance, Kevin Tassistro shot a 75-73 '148 to tie for sixth overall at the rain-shortened 36-hole 2003 Badger Invitational. Tassistro and his teammates also placed sixth in the team standings with a 605 for the weekend.
Among the nine-team field, North Carolina-Wilmington claimed top team honors after the Seahawks shot a 585 (295-290'585), while Kansas State finished in second place with 588 after shooting back-to-back 294s. Big Ten teams Michigan State (301-289'588) and Purdue (290-301'591) placed third and fourth, respectively.
Individually, Michigan State's Craig Revell won the men 's title after recording consistent 70s for a 140 overall. Tassistro, UW 's top finisher, fired three birdies for a three-over par 75 Sunday morning to move up eight spots in the individual standings after round one.
Wisconsin freshman Ryan Conn, in his first-ever competition wearing the Cardinal and White, finished in a tie for 25th place (75-77'152), while teammates Dylan Esterling and Garrett Jones both scored 154 to tie for 31st place. Both Badgers shot three birdies a piece. UW senior Brian Brodell dropped two strokes off of his round-one performance for a 77 and 156 for the Invitational.
The Badgers travel to Michigan, Sept. 20-21, for the Northern Intercollegiate next weekend. Results will be available on UWBADGERS.COM.
