October 20, 2004 | Women's Hockey
Senior captain Carla MacLeod was one of 20 women named to Canada's Four Nations Cup roster, announced Hockey Canada Wednesday. The first competition for the squad will be challenging the U.S., Sweden and Finland in Lake Placid, N.Y., Nov. 10-14.
MacLeod is joined by nine 2002 Olympic gold-medalists and two current WCHA players. MacLeod also participated in the 2003 Four Nations Cup. While skating for Team Canada this year, MacLeod will see a familiar face wearing USA's colors. Senior Molly Engstrom was selected for Team USA's roster earlier in the fall.
Facing off against UW teammate Engstrom, neither she nor Engstrom will miss any NCAA competition, as they will meet up with their national teams during a bye week in the UW's schedule.
USA is scheuduled to meet Canada on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vt. They could potentially meet again in either the bronze- or the gold-medal contests on Nov. 14 in Lake Placid.
The Badgers are on the road this week as they head to Ohio State's OSU Ice Rink. Stay tuned to uwbadgers.com for the latest in women's hockey news.
