Badgers Fall to Wildcats

The Wisconsin men's swimming and diving teams lost to the Arizona Wildcats today, with a score of 160-99. The men are now 3-1-0 overall in meets this year.
The men were led by Senior Co-Captain Adam Mania (Hickman, Neb.) winning the 100-yard backstroke (48.69), taking second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.68), second in the 100-yard butterfly (50.47) and first with the Wisconsin 400-yard freestyle relay (3:03.12).
'I was really pleased on how the team looked today, ' said head coach Eric Hansen. 'We accomplished what we wanted, but still have some holes to fill.'
Other notable UW swimmers were Nick Bennett (Birmingham, Ala.) winning the 200-yard butterfly (1:54.55), Tim Liebhold (Chapel Hill, N.C.) taking first in the 400-yard IM (4:02.66). Eric Weisner (Montrose, Colo.) taking second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.59) as well as second in the 100-yard freestyle (46.00) and first with the Wisconsin 400-yard relay team with Liebhold, Mania and Scott Speer (Fitchburg, Wis.).
The diving team was led by Justin Bonner (Ridley Park, Pa.) taking third on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards with scores of 239.09 and 227.03 respectively.
'Justin was very consistent today, and has improved immensely,' said diving coach Josh Seykora. 'It was a good meet to prepare us for the tough season ahead.'
The Badgers will hit the water next with their final home meet at the UW Natatorium at 5 p.m. on Friday Nov. 5.
