MacLeod, Team Canada Wins 2004 Four Nations Cup

During a break in NCAA competition, two Badgers met up with their national teams to compete in the 2004 Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y. Seniors Carla MacLeod and Molly Engstrom participated in event skating for Canada and the USA, respectively. Former Badger and 2002 Jofa/All-American Kerry Weiland also skated with Engstrom and Team USA. Tying 1-1 in the teams' first meeting, Nov. 12, Canada claimed the gold medal, Nov. 14 in a 2-1 win while Team USA earned the silver.
Engstrom notched two assists in USA's 6-1 victory over Finland and helped the team to a 2-1-1 record. MacLeod skated to a 3-0-1 record with Team Canada and inked a power-play goal vs. Finland, Nov. 13.
The Wisconsin team (7-3-0, 5-3-0 WCHA) took the week off while the senior duo was competing, but will take to the ice Nov. 20-21 in Grand Forks, N.D. WCHA newcomer, North Dakota (3-8-1, 3-7-0 WCHA) will host the first ever meeting for the teams. The puck is set to drop at 2:05 p.m. both days.
