Trinidad Selected as Swimmer of the Week
November 02, 2004 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The awards for the University of Wisconsin swimming and diving team keep piling up, as junior Anna Trinidad (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Trinidad's award, the second of her career, gives the Badger men and women a total of seven this year, in only their third week of competition.
'Anna swam well throughout the summer and has continued that into the fall,' head coach Eric Hansen said. 'She has shown that she is willing and capable of taking that next step.'
And that next step would be qualifying for the NCAA championships, to which the co-captain came closer as she posted NCAA 'B' qualifying times in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.93) and the 400-yard IM (4:20.57) against Arizona last weekend.
Besides winning those two events, Trinidad took second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.18) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:28.48).
Trinidad and the women's squad will have the week off as the men face Michigan at 5 p.m. Friday at the UW Natatorium.
