Piper to be Honored by Dane County
September 23, 2004 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The Dane County Board of Supervisors will pass a resolution to honor University of Wisconsin gold-medal swimmer Carly Piper (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) at tonight's meeting in the City County Building.
Resolution 138 pays respect to Piper's achievement at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. The senior helped lead her 800-meter freestyle relay team to a world-record time of 7:53.42.
The Board, which also honored gold-medal speedskater and Verona-native Casey FitzRandolph in 2002, is the legislative body for Dane County. It passes resolutions and ordinances that affect residents of the area.
