UW Finishes Fourth at Xavier Invite

Garrett Jones and Jeff Kaiser each shot a final round 71 as the Badgers improved one spot to claim fourth place with a 289 Tuesday at the Xavier Invitational at Oasis Golf Club in Loveland, Ohio.
Wisconsin concluded the tournament at 3-under par 861 (283-289-289=861), one stroke ahead of Indiana and Nebraska, who tied for fifth place.
Jones (Rewey, Wis.) posted UW's best finish for the fourth time in as many tournaments this fall, tying for 14th place at 3-under 213 (70-72-71=213).
Kaiser (Onalaska, Wis.) finished three strokes behind Jones in a tie for 23rd place at even-par 216 (70-75-71=216).
Freshman Pat Duffy shaved 16 strokes off of his previous best for 54 holes with a 69-75-74=218. The Appleton, Wis. native tied for 36th place overall at two-over par.
Ben Herrera (Waukee, Iowa) rounded out the UW scoring effort on Tuesday with a 73. The freshman finished in a tie for 46th place at five-over 221 (76-72-73=221).
Freshman Tyler Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) closed out the tournament with an 81 and finished tied for 60th place at nine-over 225 (74-70-81=225).
Austin Peay State held on to defeat host school Xavier in a playoff after both teams tied at 21-under par 843. Louisville finished one shot back in third place. Xavier's Josh Streibich claimed the individual title at 14-under 202 after a 68 in the final round.
The Badgers conclude the fall season with a trip to San Diego Oct. 24-25 to take part in the San Diego State Barona Cup.
