Wisconsin Welcomes Purdue, Indiana for Conference Games This Weekend

The Wisconsin women's soccer team (6-6-2, 1-4-1 Big Ten) will play host to Purdue and Indiana in conference games this weekend at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
The Badgers will battle the Boilermakers at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the first game of a soccer doubleheader with the Wisconsin men's team. UW will then face Indiana at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Team Leaders
Senior Amy Vermeulen and Katy Lindenmuth lead the Badgers with five goals apiece on the season. Vermeulen, who also has three assists, leads Wisconsin in points with 13 and also has a team-best 37 shots. Marisa Brown, Allison Preiss and Kara Kabellis lead the team with four assists.
In the net, sophomore Lynn Murray has 48 saves in 12 games of action. Stefani Szczechowski has 10 saves in six games for the Badgers.
Last Time Out ' Michigan
Wisconsin picked up its first Big Ten win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Michigan Oct. 9 in Ann Arbor, site of the 2005 Big Ten Tournament.
Allison Preiss scored the game-winning goal for Wisconsin at 76:16 after she headed the ball into the net following a cross by Vermeulen. Lindenmuth scored the first Badger goal at 20:30 with assists from Vermeulen and freshman Sandy Jorgensen.
Lynn Murray started for the first time in three games and posted two saves in the net for the Badgers.
Last Time Out ' Michigan State
The Badgers fell to Michigan State 3-2 Oct. 7 in East Lansing, Mich.
Kara Kabellis put Wisconsin on the board at 24:33 following a Badger corner kick. Lindemuth scored the second Wisconsin goal at 71:38.
Murray and Stefani Szczechowski each recorded a save in 45 minutes of play.
Scouting Purdue
Purdue enters the game Friday with a 8-5 overall record and a 4-1 mark in Big Ten games. Jessica Okoroafo leads the Boilermakers with nine goals on the season. Teammate Kim Comisar also leads the squad with five assists on the year.
Goalkeeper Lauren Mason has 51 saves in all 13 games of action in the net for Purdue.
The UW-Purdue Series
Purdue leads the all-time series against Wisconsin, 4-2-1. Last season, Wisconsin escaped with a 1-0 win in West Lafayette.
Scouting Indiana
Indiana enters play this weekend with a 5-7-1 overall mark and a 1-4-0 record in conference games. Kristen Zmijewski leads IU with four goals on the season while Molly Kruger has three assists for the Hoosiers on the year.
Goalkeepers Lauren Fabbro and Stacey Van Boxmeer have split time in the net this season. Van Boxmeer has 35 saves on the year while Fabbro has 22.
The UW-Indiana Series
The Badgers lead the all-time series with the Hoosiers, 7-5-2, including a 5-2 win last year in Bloomington.
Up Next
The Badgers will compete in a rare Thursday contest at 7 pm. Oct. 20 against UW-Green Bay in Green Bay, Wis. Wisconsin will then play host to 2004 Big Ten Tournament champion Ohio State at 1 p.m. Oct. 23.
