Badgers in Ninth at Barona Collegiate Cup

The Wisconsin men's golf team found itself tied for ninth place following the first round of the Barona Collegiate Cup Monday at Barona Creek Golf Course in Lakeside, Calif. Second round action was suspended and will be resumed at 7:00 a.m. PDT Tuesday.
UW shot a 5-under 283 in the first round to tie for ninth place with Louisville. 18 of the 19 teams in the tournament shot under par in the first round.
Jeff Kaiser (Onalaska, Wis.) posted the low round of the day for the Badgers with a 4-under 68. The sophomore was tied for eighth place following the first round.
Junior Garrett Jones (Rewey, Wis.) and freshman Ben Herrera (Waukee, Iowa) each shot a 1-under 71 to tie for 34th place.
Rounding out the Wisconsin effort, freshmen Pat Duffy (Appleton, Wis.) and Tyler Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) were tied for 62nd place after the first round at 1-over 73.
Brigham Young held a one stroke lead over Fresno State at 15-under after 18 holes. Denver's James Love posted the best individual score in the first round at 10-under 62.
The second round of the Barona Collegiate Cup resumes at 7:00 a.m. PDT Tuesday at Barona Creek Golf Course. The final round will follow the completion of the second round.
