Women's Basketball Team Hosts UW-Platteville Sunday

The Wisconsin women's basketball will host UW-Platteville in its second exhibition game of the season today at 1:30 p.m. in the Kohl Center.
Wisconsin was led by sophomore guard Janese Banks with 30 points in its 98-56 exhbition win over UW-Parkside last Sunday.
The Badgers were picked to finish sixth in the Big Ten by the coaches and seventh by the media in the Big Ten Preseason Polls. UW finished eighth in the conference a year ago with a 5-11 record, and had the best season mark since 2002 with a 12-16 record.
Wisconsin returns three starters including sophomore Jolene Anderson, the 2005 Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Anderson, who won a gold medal with the USA Basketball U-19 team this past summer, was a preseason pick for first team All-Big Ten by the media.
Anderson and fellow freshman starter Janese Banks were Wisconsin 's top scorers last season with Anderson averaging 17.8 points per game, and Banks adding 10.6 points per game. UW's leading rebounder, senior Annie Nelson (6.8) also returns. Eight of the UW's 12 players are freshmen or sophomores, there are no juniors, and four are seniors.
