Jessica Ring Named First Team Academic All-District

Wisconsin women's soccer player Jessica Ring has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team, College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced.
Ring, a fifth-year senior and team captain from Rockford, Ill., currently is in her first year of law school at the University of Wisconsin. She graduated with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average in May 2005 and earned her bachelor's degree in psychology.
'Jessica has been one of the most consistent players I have coached in all my years at Wisconsin, in terms of her practice, game play, and obviously her excellence in academics,' Dean Duerst, women's soccer head coach, said. 'She is a pleasure to coach and to be around. Jess has so much respect from her teammates and is a tremendous role model for all of them. She has made us proud. '
Ring helped Wisconsin win its first Big Ten tournament championship since 1994 over the weekend. She was named the tournament's defensive most valuable player.
