Badger Trio Earn All-Great Lakes Regional Honors

Wisconsin women's soccer players Marisa Brown, Kara Kabellis and Amy Vermeulen have earned All-Great Lakes regional honors, according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Soccer Buzz magazine.
The NSCAA named both midfielder Marisa Brown (Evanston, Ill.) and forward Amy Vermeulen (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) to the second team. Meanwhile, Soccer Buzz put Badgers on each of its three teams ' Brown to first team, midfielder Kara Kabellis (Lockport, Ill.) to second team and Vermeulen to third team.
Brown, a senior captain, was named the most valuable player of the 2005 Badgers. She was a first team All-Big Ten selection and led the squad with 10 assists. She also set the school record with 92 career starts, the most in the history of the program.
Vermeulen was the team's offensive MVP and was instrumental in Wisconsin's Big Ten tournament win with six goals during the event. She was named the offensive MVP of the conference tournament and was a second team All-Big Ten selection this season. Vermeulen wrapped up her career with the most assists in Wisconsin history (27) and also is second in career goals (26) and third in points (99).
Kabellis, a junior, was second behind Vermeulen in goals (7) and points (20). She also dished six assists during the season.
