Badgers Drop Second Straight
October 15, 2006 | Women's Soccer
The Wisconsin women's soccer team (6-6-3, 3-4-1 Big Ten) was shut out for the second straight match Sunday and dropped a 4-0 decision to Purdue.
Four goals ties the most allowed by Wisconsin this year. Illinois also scored four times Sept. 22 in the Big Ten opener.
'It was a game of giving up goals in the last few minutes,' Dean Duerst, Wisconsin head coach, said. 'It was frustrating that they scored so early and it took us out of the game. This was definitely the toughest match we have played all season. They outplayed us.'
Purdue scored twice in both halves. The first score came in just the fourth minute of play and the second was almost three and a half minutes before the break.
The Boilermakers then started off the second half with a quick score in the 49th minute, followed by their fourth and final goal in the 82nd minute.
The Badgers tied Purdue in shots with 20 taken by each team.
Wisconsin goalkeeper Lynn Murray (Marietta, Ga.) tallied six saves in the net. Purdue 's Lauren Mason finished with 10 saves.
'We will try to regroup and finish the season strong,' Duerst said.
The Badgers continue on the road with a 7 p.m. (6 p.m. central time) match at Penn State Friday.
