
Rice, Siow Earn Big Ten Honors

For the second straight week, University of Wisconsin swimmers earned recognition from the Big Ten, as sophomores Scott Rice and Yi Ting Siow were named Swimmers of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Both Rice and Siow led their respective teams to 3-0 starts to the season after UW routed Iowa and UW-Milwaukee in a triangular last weekend. Rice won the 100-yard butterfly (50.16), the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.25) and the 200-yard IM (1:55.22), plus he helped bring home titles in the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.30) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:25.50).
Siow, meanwhile, set a UI Fieldhouse pool and Wisconsin record when she won the 200-yard breaststroke with an NCAA qualifying time of 2:11.24. In addition, she was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.35), the 400-yard IM (4:19.22, NCAA 'B' time), the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.15) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:48.87).
Rice and Siow each earned their second career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week awards.
