
Badgers Wrap Up Competition at Minnesota

Participating in just the preliminary round, the University of Wisconsin men's and women's swimming and diving teams concluded competition today at the Minnesota Invite held at the University Aquatic Center.
Full team results will be tallied after this afternoon's final rounds. Through the first two days of competition, both of Wisconsin's teams were in second place--the women have 572 points while the men have 544 points.
Among the top female finishers today were Susan Johnson, who won the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.40, NCAA "B" time); Yi Ting Siow was victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.31, NCAA "A" time); UW took the top two spots in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:27.12 and 3:30.83, respectively); and Gabby Maddalena won the 1650-yard freestyle (16:50.00, NCAA "B" time).
On the men's side, Scott Rice came in first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:50.39), Mike Hopkins finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:50.83) and Mike Desautels notched third in the 100-yard freestyle (45.75).
Platform, the last of the diving competition, will be held later this afternoon.
