Two UW Recruits Win State Titles

University of Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team recruits Maggie Meyer and Kelsey Gergen won titles at the Minnesota AA state championships last week at the University Aquatic Center on the Minnesota campus.
Meyer, of North Oaks, won both the 100-yard freestyle (50.34) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.30, state record), while Gergen, of Hastings, was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (23.32) and took second to Meyer in the 100 free.
The titles give Meyer three for her career'she also won the 100 back in 2004 'and she improved on the second-place finish she had last season in the 100 back. Gergen, meanwhile, defended her title in the 50 free.
