The Wisconsin men's golf team got their second straight tournament victory Sunday by winning the Wolverine Intercollegiate at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Badgers, led by senior Garrett Jones (Rewey, Wis.), shot a total team score of 851 (285-279-287) and finished 11 strokes ahead of second place Michigan. Jones shot a individual total of 210 (70-67-73) en route to a three-under par third place finish.
Dan Woltman (Beaver Dam, Wis.) and Tyler Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) finished tied for fifth and eighth place, respectively. Woltman shot a one-under par 212 (74-70-68) while Obermueller shot an even-par 213. This marks the second consecutive tournament that three Badger golfers have finished in the top 10.
Two other Badgers, sophmore Pat Duffy (Appleton, Wis.) and junior Jeff Kaiser, both had solid tournaments. Duffy finished tied for 38th place while shooting a total score of 220 (72-73-75). Kaiser shot a 73-70-78-221 to earn a 41st place tie.
The Badgers are back in action a week from Monday when they travel to Richmond, Vir., to compete in the Mattaponi Springs Invitational Sept. 25-26.
