
UW at Top of Leaderboard After Day One

The UW men's golf team finds itself tied for first place at the VCU Invitational in Richmond, Va., at Hermitage Country Club. Through 36 holes the Badgers compiled a total score of 562, putting them at 14-under par and tied with Penn State at the top of the scoreboard.
Wisconsin's successful first day was a result of consistent play throughout its five-man active roster.
The invite's defending champ Dan Woltman (Beaver Dam, Wis.) is currently tied for fifth place among individuals with a 4-under par score. Sophomore Jordan Elsen (Kenosha, Wis.) put forth a fantastic effort as well and is tied with Woltman and two other players for fifth place.
Just one stroke behind at 3-under, Jeff Kaiser (Onalaska, Wis.) and Tyler Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) find themselves in a six-way tie for ninth place.
Danny Zimmerman (Verona, Wis.), Wisconsin's top performer in the team's first two events this season, will look to bounce back with a better day tomorrow. The junior transfer from Illinois is currently placed at tied for 50th with a 4-over score.
The Badgers will finish their play in the VCU Invitational tomorrow when they shoot 18 final holes at the Hermitage Country Club in Richmond, Va.
