October 16, 2007 | Men's Golf
After a rough first day, the Wisconsin men's golf team battled back in the third round of the Prestige at PGA West to finish in sixth place, 24 strokes behind Charlotte, the invitational team champion. The Badgers were 12th out of 16 teams after day one, but were able to raise their level of play to finish with a third-round total team score of 289, the fourth-best fall season team 18-hole score.
Junior Dan Woltman (Beaver Dam, Wis.) started the day tied for second place, but was able to move up the leaderboard and finished tied for first place as he shot a 70 in round one and then back-to-back 69's in the second and third rounds of play.
Danny Zimmerman (Middleton, Wis.) was UW's next finisher as he tied for 41st place and shot a 72 in the final round. Jeff Kaiser (Onalaska, Wis.) finished one-stroke behind Zimmerman to finish tied for 54th place.
Rounding out the UW team was Tyler Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) and Jordan Elsen (Kenosha, Wis.) as they finished tied for 59th and 66th place respectively.
The Badgers return to action next week as they travel to the west coast once more during the fall season for the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge.
