November 15, 2007 | Men's Swimming & Diving
After a two-week layoff, the UW men's swimming and diving team will partake in the Northwestern Triangular this weekend. Along with Northwestern and Michigan, Wisconsin will begin the two-day competition at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at Henry Crown Sports Pavilion in Evanston, Ill.
The Badgers (3-1) have had a successful start in the early-goings of their season. Wisconsin controlled UW-Green Bay, Iowa and UW-Milwaukee in its first three meets to kick off its season with three straight wins. Two weeks ago, fourth-ranked Arizona handed UW its first and only loss on the year thus far.
Coming off of their meet against the talented Arizona, the Badgers will continue to face a collection of the nation's top athletes on the collegiate level and must be ready put forth their best effort against their talented Big Ten rivals.
Michigan (3-1) is ranked just one spot behind Arizona at No. 5, while Northwestern (1-3) is currently positioned at No. 18.
The Wolverines won their first three duals of the season, with notable wins over No. 6 Florida and No. 9 Indiana, before being defeated, 168.5-131.5, by No. 1 Texas.
The Wildcats, who last season beat Wisconsin, 142-97, picked up their only win of the season in late-October against Illinois-Chicago. Their three losses, however, have come against Indiana, Purdue and Texas A&M, teams that are all ranked in the top 25.
Wisconsin's triangular meet against Northwestern and Michigan will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, and recommence at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. Competition both days will take place in Evanston, Ill., at Henry Crown Sports Pavilion.
