
Wisconsin Down after Day One

After the first six events of the Northwestern Triangular, the University of Wisconsin men's swimming team is down 72-38 against No. 18 Northwestern and 80-20 against No. 5 Michigan.
However, all of Wisconsin's times Friday night set new season-best times for UW.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kyle Sorensen, Phil Davies, Mike Desautels and Mitch Buenger earned UW's first points with their third place finish with a time of 1:22.81.
Kyle Thompson was Wisconsin's top finisher in the 500-yard freestyle as he took ninth place (4:39.91). Junior Scott Rice took third in the 200 IM (1:51.70) and Desautels finished in fifth place in the 50-yard freestyle (20.89).
In the final swimming event of the night, the 400-yard medley relay team of Derrick O 'Donnell, Eric Johnson, Rice and Davies took fourth place with their time of 3:21.38.
On the one-meter springboard, sophomore Al Morrison earned second place with his 305.60 points and freshman Caleb Percevecz followed closely behind with a third place finish (300.30 points.)
The second half of the meet will commence Saturday morning.
