
Dolgner, Reineke Named Volleyball All-Americans

Sophomore Brittney Dolgner and senior Taylor Reineke received All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the organization announced today. Dolgner, a 6-0 outside hitter from Waupun, Wis., was named to the second team while Reineke, a 6-3 middle blocker from Naperville, Ill., was named to the third team. It is only the fourth time in UW history that the Badgers have earned two All-Americans in the same season.
'I'm really happy for Brittney and Taylor,' said UW coach Pete Waite. 'They had great seasons and this is a real honor. They are among an elite group of athletes and they worked hard to improve as players every day.'
Dolgner earns her first All-America honor and is the first UW sophomore to be named to the select team. She led the Badgers and ranked third among Big Ten Conference players with 4.63 kills per game. Dolgner hit a career-best .274 as a sophomore and recorded double-figure kills in a team-leading 25 matches. She had 20-or-more kills in 12 matches and led the Badgers in kills in 22 matches. Dolgner, who also earned first-team All-Big Ten and AVCA All-Mideast Region honors this season, added 2.35 digs, 0.53 blocks and 0.22 service aces per game.
Reineke also earned her first All-America honor and is the fifth UW middle blocker to be named. She earned her third consecutive All-Big Ten honor this season, only the third UW player to earn three first-team honors. Reineke led the Badgers and ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 1.54 blocks per game. She also led the team and ranked sixth in the conference, hitting a career-best .331. Reineke wrapped up her career as the UW's all-time leader in blocks per game with 1.55. She also ranked second in total blocks with 671, which ranks fourth among all Big Ten players. Reineke finished her four years with a .317 career hitting percentage, which ranks third on the UW all-time list.
Senior Jackie Simpson, a 6-0 setter, earned honorable mention All-America honors after being named to the AVCA All-Mideast Region team. Simpson was a two-time All-Big Ten honoree. She ranked third among Big Ten setters, averaging a career-best 13.16 assists per game. The Downers Grove, Ill., native guided the Badger offense to a .270 team hitting percentage, which ranks sixth all-time on the UW season record list.
