
Northeastern Defeats Bowling Green in Badger Hockey Showdown

The Northeastern University men's hockey team (8-4-2, 6-3-1 Hockey East) scored four unanswered goals to come back from a three goal deficit, downing Bowling Green University (8-7-0, 5-5-0 CCHA), 4-3, in the opening game of the Badger Hockey Showdown on Friday at the Kohl Center.
Bowling Green tallied three consecutive goals to earn a 3-0 lead midway into the second period. Northeastern made a run in the middle stanza by scoring two goals less than three minutes apart, cutting the Falcons' lead to one. The Huskies scored two additional goals in the third period to tally a streak of four unanswered goals.
For the Falcons, David Solway, Dan Sexton and Jacob Cepis each tallied goals in the loss. Tood McIlrath and Tim Maxwell both picked up two assists, while James Perkin was credited with one assist on the night.
Huskies forward Jimmy Russo scored twice, while Dan Nycholat and Louis Liotti collected goals in the Northeastern victory. Tyler McNeely, Ryan Ginand, Wade MacLeod, Randy Guzior, Greg Costa and Nycholat were all credited with an assist on a Huskie goal.
Northeastern will face the winner of the Wisconsin vs. Colgate game at either 4 p.m. or 7 p.m. tomorrow night. The team which will skate against Wisconsin (either Bowling Green or Northeastern) will appear in the 7 p.m. game, which will be live broadcasted on My Madison TV.
