The Wisconsin men's basketball team (6-1) will play its first of a three-game, in-state schedule over the next seven days. UW opens up state of Wisconsin play Saturday at the Kohl Center against No. 11/15 Marquette.
Tip is set for 5 p.m. CT with the game shown live on ESPN2 and broadcast on the Badger Radio Network, including 1310 AM here in Madison. The Badgers have won 28 consecutive home games, the third-longest streak in the country and the third-longest in school history.
After Marquette, the Badgers will travel to UW-Milwaukee on Wednesday, Dec. 12 and finish off the week hosting UW-Green Bay Saturday, Dec. 15.
Wisconsin and Marquette have played 113 times in their storied history with UW leading the all-time series 62-51. Wisconsin has won seven of the last nine meetings and hasn 't lost in Madison to the Golden Eagles since 1997.
Marquette enters the game with a 5-1 record, its only loss coming at the hands of Duke (UW's only loss), in the EA Sports Maui Invitational on Nov. 21.
Wisconsin has been averaging 74.9 points per game and has only been giving up 50.4 points to its opponents. Sophomore Trevon Hughes is averaging a team-high 16.7 points per contests, while senior Brian Butch is nearly recording a double-double every night (13.4 pts. and 9.1 reb.).
Madison natives, Michael Flowers and MU's Wesley Matthews used to play against each other in high school. Flowers attended Madison La Follette, while Matthews is a Madison Memorial alum.
