NEWSWORTHY NOTES
When junior athid=5596&deptid=122"> --> Scott Lorenz found the back of the net in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Northwestern, he became just the third player to score on the Wildcats' NCAA-leading defense. NU entered the contest with a 0.17 goals-against average, and Lorenz 's tally was just the third allowed by the Wildcats in 12 games this season.
The Badgers launched eight shots on goal in Sunday's loss to the Wildcats, the highest total by a Northwestern opponent this season. It also was the Badgers' second-highest tally of the season in that category, an effort surpassed only by the 10 they racked up against Dayton on Sept. 7.
The Badgers' four-goal barrage in the first half of Wednesday's win over UW-Milwaukee marked the team's most productive offensive period since dropping seven goals on IPFW in the second half of a 7-0 win on Sept. 3, 2006.
Prior to Wednesday's win over UW-Milwaukee, the last time the Badgers scored at least three goals in a period was a 4-0 win over Northern Illinois on Sept. 26, 2007. The UW posted three goals in the first period of that contest.
Lorenz has tallied 13 shots in his last three games (including six against Michigan State on Oct. 5) to boost his team-leading shots total to 41 for the season, a number that also ranks him No. 2 in the Big Ten. In his first two seasons, Lorenz tallied a combined 33 shots and recorded a single goal.
Of Lorenz's 13 chances over the past three games, eight were shots on goal. He leads the UW in that category, as well, and has tallied 23 on the season.

Sunday's loss came on the heels of a dominant 4-0 win over UW-Milwaukee. The victory snapped a five-game winless streak as the Badgers scored on each of their first three shots and tallied four goals in the game's first 35 minutes. Lorenz scored twice, while Colin Monasterio and Cale Cooper each scored the first goals of their careers.
SCOUTING MARQUETTE
The Golden Eagles enter Wednesday's matchup following a 1-1 draw with Big East Conference rival Seton Hall on Saturday. Marquette picked up a win in its season-opener but has proceeded to win just one of its next 10 contests and is mired in a three-game winless streak. The Eagles have scored just two goals in their last seven matches and have tallied just eight goals in 11 total games this season.
Anthony Colaizzi has been Marquette's top offensive threat, scoring four goals and adding a pair of assists. Matt Pyzdrowski has played every minute in goal for the Eagles and owns a 0.96 goals-against average to go along with 38 saves on the season.
ABOUT THE MARQUETTE SERIES
The Badgers own a five-game unbeaten streak against the Eagles, which includes a run of four straight wins from 2003 to 2006. The teams battled to a 1-1 draw last season.
The UW owns a 7-5-4 all-time record against the Eagles in Milwaukee, including wins in the teams' last two meetings at Valley Fields. The Badgers have not dropped a road contest to Marquette since a 3-0 defeat in 2002.
Badgers head coach Jeff Rohrman is 4-1-1 against Marquette, including a 2-1 record in games played in Milwaukee.
