
Percevecz, Cheffins sweep Big Ten diving honors

The Wisconsin swimming and diving program earned a sweep of the Big Ten Conference's weekly diving awards Tuesday, with junior athid=6657&deptid=194"> --> Emily Cheffins named women's diver of the week and sophomore athid=6633&deptid=132"> --> Caleb Percevecz claiming his second men's diver of the week honor of the season.
Both were strong in the Badgers' dual meet with defending women's and men's national champion Arizona last weekend. Cheffins took the title in the women's 1-meter competition and was runner-up to teammate athid=6653&deptid=194"> --> Ciara Rinaudo on the 3-meter board, while Percevecz finished second in both men's springboard events.
Against the No. 1-ranked Wildcats, Cheffins posted a personal-best score of 293.02, which also leads the Badgers this season, to win on the 1-meter board. She then took second in the 3-meter competition with a season-best effort of 294.68. Both scores qualify Cheffins for NCAA zone diving competition.
Percevecz also improved his NCAA qualifying marks in both events, scoring a season-high and team-leading total of 346.27 in the 1-meter event. His total of 352.05 on the 3-meter board also leads the Badgers this season. Both scores narrowly missed Percevecz's career-best marks in those events.
The award is the third Big Ten weekly accolade of Percevecz's career and his second this season. He also earned men's diver of the week honors for the week of Oct. 14.
After a week off, the Badgers will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 13, as they host Northwestern in a Big Ten dual at the UW Natatorium.
