April 10, 2008 | General News
It is the day before the JEOPARDY! College Championship begins filming the 10-episode event at the Kohl Center and we got an inside look around the JEOPARDY! Studio, as well as inside the Wisconsin men's hockey locker room, where UW director of athletics Barry Alvarez made a special presentation to JEOPARDY! longtime host Alex Trebek.

This will mark the ninth year the JEOPARDY! College Championship will take place on a college campus. This year's winner will take home $100,000, while second place is guaranteed $50,000 and third place at least $25,000. Semifinalists receive $10,000 and those contestants eliminated in the first week will receive $5,000.
The JEOPARDY! crew has been at the Kohl Center since April 3, putting together the set and the Kohl Center for the taping. The show traveled with over 100 staff and used 10 trucks to bring in equipment for the tapings.
The stage is customized with a University of Wisconsin flair as recreations of Science Hall and Memorial Union serve as a backdrop to the board and contestants. The show hung approximately 90,000 pounds of lighting, speakers and other equipment from the rafters of the Kohl Center for the set.
The episodes taped at the Kohl Center will air in national syndication from May 5 to May 16, 2008 (check local listings for station and time). In Madison, Jeopardy! airs weekdays on NBC15, WMTV, at 4:30 p.m.
