Kickin' it
July 17, 2008 | Women's Soccer
For most people, the summer is filled with a lot of sun, barbeques with friends and just kickin' it. For the UW women's soccer team that last term is taken quite literally. These ladies are "kickin' it" to stay in shape. Almost every day you can find them out in the sun playing soccer but they are also trying to get that much needed time off. This summer uwbadgers.com will keep you updated on what all your favorite soccer players are doing this summer.
Senior Taylor Walsh is keeping busy in New Jersey where she is playing for the Jersey Sky Blue. She highlighted the summer with two goals and an assist within three games. With soccer keeping her so busy she hasn't had time to do much more.
Fellow seniors Sheri Ferron and Jamie Klages are also preparing for next season by keeping in shape and of course, playing soccer.
Ferron stayed in Madison over the summer to take an exercise physiology course at UW while also playing for the MYSC Lady Blues. When Ferron wasn't playing soccer or in the classroom she spent her free time in Milwaukee with her family. Enjoying the little time she does have off, Ferron made the best of it and attended some Brewers games, a Rascal Flatts and Tom Petty concert, and took time to hang out at the Terrace.
Klages is back home in San Diego, Calif., training up to four times a week with a goalie coach and also at a facility called Rehab United. It is a program designed for college athletes to train speed, agility, strength and the power or fitness all of which are sport-specific exercises. When Klages is not sweating she has her head in the books studying for an online class and don't worry in her free time she has been hitting the beach.
