The 2007-08 athletics season was full of many memories for Badger fans and athletes. Before the calendar officially turns to the 2008-09 season, uwbadgers.com will re-live 15 of the top moments from the 2007-08 Wisconsin athletics season. Today, Badger golfer Dan Woltman qualifying for his second consecutive NCAA championship is the No. 10 moment.
Woltman, who reached the NCAA championship as a sophomore by tying for medalist honors at the NCAA regional, needed an eagle on the first hole to win a three-way playoff for the last individual qualifying spot this year. He was one of just six players to qualify as individuals for the tournament. By advancing, he became the first golfer in UW history to qualify as an individual for consecutive NCAA Championships.
At the championships, Woltman could not overcome an opening-round 82 as he failed to make the cut for the tournament's fourth and final round. After his disappointing first round, the Beaver Dam, Wis., native posted rounds of 71 and 77 to climb up the leaderboard but finished five shots out of a playoff for the final round.
