Women's golf team to Light the Night
September 24, 2008 | Women's Golf
The women's golf team will be participating in the 2008 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk Thursday night. The event will take place at Olin Park at 7 p.m. Assistant women's golf coach Lori Murphy, who serves as an honorary chairperson this season, will be speaking at 6:30 p.m.
Murphy's son was diagnosed with lymphoma when he was seven years old, so this event holds a special place for her.
'It's a great cause and a fun evening,' Murphy said. 'It's something that's close to me and it's also important for the [women's golf] team to get involved in community service. '
According to the Light the Night campaign's official website, funds raised through Light the Night Walk support the work of hundreds of the world's best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
