
Men's golf team enters Memphis Intercollegiate

The Badgers will leave the cool UW campus and head south to Memphis, Tenn. for the Memphis Intercollegiate from Oct. 19-20. Wisconsin faces Memphis, Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Denver, Iowa State, Louisville, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Maryland, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Southern Miss and Xaiver at the par-72, 7,259 yard Colonial Country Club, south Course. Senior Jordan Elsen along with the freshmen quartet of Michael Sorenson, Sam Frank, Anthony Aicher and Scott Newton will all compete. Monday marks Newton's first collegiate competition. Last time out: Wisconsin takes 12th at Alister Mackenzie Invitational The Badgers placed 12th at the rain-shortened 36-hole Alister Mackenzie Invitational on Oct. 12 at the par-71, 6,686 yard Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif. Play was limited to only two rounds due to severe rains and winds. Freshman Michael Sorenson tied for 19th overall, carding a 140 (71-69) to obtain his first career top spot for the Badgers. He broke his previous career best of 151 in 36-holes, set at the 2009 Gopher Invitational by 11 strokes. Elsen notched the second place position for the Badgers, tying for 35th overall with a 143 (70-73). Frank finished one stroke behind Elsen carding a 144 (74-70). The duo of Aicher and Keegan tied for 67th and 70th respectively to conclude day one. Aicher had a 150 (76-74) with Keegan (73-78--151) just one stroke behind.
