MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin Field House ranks as the second-most attended volleyball venue in the nation, according to the December issue of Volleyball Magazine.
The magazine averaged attendance figures over the last five seasons and the Badgers rank No. 2 on the list of top-10 programs. Wisconsin trails only Hawai’i, which averages nearly 7,000 fans per match, on the list. UW finishes ahead of Big Ten Conference rival Minnesota, which comes in third, and Nebraska, which ranks fourth.
Two current UW players were quoted in the article.
“It is amazing,” sophomore setter Janelle Gabrielsen says. “We have the best fans in the world, giving it all they have and cheering as loud as they can.”
Junior libero Kim Kuzma adds, “No matter how many times I run out, I get the chills every single time. Just knowing they are they to cheer us on and support us makes us want to play even harder just for them.”
Other schools in the top 10 are Penn State, Washington, Florida, Texas Wichita State and Missouri.
The December issue of Volleyball Magazine is on sale now.
