With the win, Bo Ryan became just the third coach in UW history to record 200 career wins at Wisconsin. He owns a 200-75 (.727) record with the Badgers and is the second-fastest coach to reach the 200-win plateau. Only Walter Meanwell (261 games) reached 200 wins faster than Ryan.
Ryan also scored his 125th win at the Kohl Center, improving to 125-10 (.926) in home games as head coach at UW. That includes a 17-1 mark against in-state rivals.
Under Ryan, the Badgers are now 21-4 against their three in-state rivals, Marquette, Milwaukee and Green Bay.
Wisconsin improves to 63-53 all-time against Marquette and 37-15 against the Golden Eagles at home. The Badgers have won 12 of their last 14 home games against Marquette.
With 72 points Saturday, the Badgers have now scored 70 or more in five consecutive games, and six times in nine games this season. Wisconsin is 5-1 on the year when scoring at least 70 points.
For the season, the Badgers are averaging 71.7 points per game. That is an increase of 7.9 points per game over last year’s 63.8 scoring average.
With 33 attempts Saturday, the Badgers have shot at least 25 free throws in four games this season. Under Ryan, the Badgers are 77-8 when shooting 25 or more free throws in a game.
After committing a season-high 18 turnovers against Green Bay on Wednesday, the Badgers turned the ball over just seven times against Marquette.
The Badgers attempted a season-low 10 3-point field goals and matched their season-low with only three made 3-pointers Saturday.
Jon Leuer recorded his second straight double-double with 24 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in the game. This is also the second career double-double for Leuer, who had 26 points and 10 rebounds at Green Bay. He has now scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.
Jordan Taylor finished with 13 points. This is the third time this season he has scored in double figures and the fourth time in his career. Taylor also recorded three assists, giving him seven games this season – including five straight – with three or more assists.
