Badgers see 27 earn Academic All-Big Ten honors

The University of Wisconsin saw 27 student-athletes earn recognition for their work in the classroom Thursday, as they were named Academic All-Big Ten honorees for the 2008-09 winter season.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten status, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The 27 student-athletes from Wisconsin are from the men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving and wrestling teams.
The UW women's swimming and diving team led the way with eight Academic All-Big Ten selections, while the men's and women's basketball teams had six honorees each. The Badgers' wrestling program had four honorees, and three members of the men's swimming and diving team also were recognized.
