
Three Badgers qualify for U.S. Amateur Championship

Three players with ties to the University of Wisconsin men's golf team will represent the State in the 2009 U.S. Amateur Championship to be held Aug. 24-30 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
Graduating senior Daniel Woltman of Beaver Dam, Wis., shot a four-under par 69-67-136 to win the qualifying tournament completed Monday at the Kenosha Country Club. Incoming freshman Mike Sorenson of Hartland, Wis., fresh off his 2009 WSGA State Junior Boy 's Championship win last week, was second at even par 71-69-140.
Danny Zimmerman of Middleton, Wis., also a graduating senior, won a four-person playoff for third place with a par on the first two playoff holes after shooting two-over in regulation with 71-71-142. ( full leaderboard )
