
Badger recruit Sorenson wins WSGA boys title

Badger recruit, Mike Sorenson, won the 2009 WSGA State Junior Boy's Championship sponsored by Culver's, shooting 12-under par 204 over three days at The Bog in Saukville, Wis.
Sorenson's final round 71 was his highest score of the week after shooting a 7-under par 65 in the first round and a 4-under par 68 in the second round. He finished 10 shots better than second place Andrew Steinhofer of Monona Golf Course in Madison. Sorenson and Steinhofer also finished one and two in the 17-18 age division. This is the first WSGA championship for Sorenson, who qualified for the U.S. Amateur last year.
Time Warner Sports 32 Weekly will recap the 2009 WSGA State Junior Championship on Tuesday, August 11, at 6 p.m.
Sorenson is from Hartland, Wis., and attended Arrowhead High School which won the 2009 WIAA state division I championship at University Ridge Golf Course. Sorenson led his team to the title posting a three-over par 147 which tied for seventh place. He was named first-team all-state in both 2008 and 2009.
