
Badgers finish in 10th at Wolverine Intercollegiate

The Badgers finished 10th at the 14-team Wolverine Intercollegiate in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Sunday.
Wisconsin, which was in 11th after round 2, finished with a team score of 882 (298-290-294) par 72-6,979 yard, Radrick Farms Golf Course. Michigan took the top spot, tallying a 24-under-par 840 (277-288-275).
Senior Jordan Elsen (Kenosha, Wis.) claimed the top spot for the Badgers, tying for fourth place overall with a final score of 208 (71-68-69). He finished day 1 with a career-best 139, tying for 11th for best 36-hole round in UW history.
After Sunday's final round, Elsen shares the sixth best 54-hole round in school history with his former teammate Dan Woltman. Woltman finished with a 208 in both the 2008 Wolverine Intercollegiate and the 2007 Prestige at PGA West.
Elsen finished the final 18-holes with only one bogey and an impressive four birdies. After 54-rounds, his 14 birdies tied him for third best in the tournament. His former career best was a 211 at the 2008 St. Mary's Invite.
Anthony Aicher of Wausau, Wis., tied for 26th with a 4-over-par of 220 (73-72-75). The true freshman beat his first career score set at the Gopher Invitational by four strokes. He stayed consistent throughout the Wolverine Intercollegiate, keeping even par on most holes.
Junior Craig Cerbins (Berlin, Wis.) finished six strokes behind Aicher with a score of 26 (77-75-74). Cerbins improved throughout each round. After shooting 2-over on No. 13 and finishing with a bogey on No. 14 of the final round, he stayed consistent for the rest of the day to finish with a 74, for his best 18-hole round of the tournament.
True freshman Michael Sorenson (Hartland, Wis.) was only two strokes behind Cerbins to tally a 228 (77-75-76). Sorenson tied for 61st to finish off the tournament.
Senior Nick Engen made his season debut this weekend. The McFarland, Wis. native took 76th, tallying a 239 (82-77-80).
Next, the Badgers travel to Fairfax, Cali. for the Alister Mackenzie Invitational from Oct. 12-13.
