The Badgers lose for just the third time in the Kohl Center this season and for the second time in Big Ten play.
Northwestern scored 68 points against Wisconsin, which ties for the second-most points scored against the Badgers this season. Ohio State scored 70 points in Columbus, Ohio, on Dec. 6 and Cleveland State tallied 68 points on Nov. 22 in the Kohl Center. Northwestern is only the fifth team this season to score more than 60 points on the Badgers.
The Wildcats shot 51.2 percent (21-of-41) from the field, including 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from 3-point range. Both were season highs for UW opponents. Northwestern’s eight 3-pointers made ties a season high for Badger opponents. The Wildcats also recorded 17 assists, an opponent high.
Junior Lin Zastrow scored a career-high 19 points, improving upon her previous best of 18 points. The 6-4 forward shot 8-of-15 (53.3 percent) from the field and 3-of-4 (75.0 percent) from the line. She also added four rebounds and two assists.
Wisconsin lost for the first time this season when it had three-or-more players in double-digit scoring. The Badgers were 10-0 with three-or-more players in double figures.
Northwestern ends Wisconsin’s streak of seven games in which it had held its opponents to 54-points or less.
Four of the top teams in the Big Ten lost today and were beaten by five of six teams in the bottom half of the conference.
