MADISON, Wis. -- Laurie Nobusch (Mequon, Wis.) of the Wisconsin women’s soccer team earned Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week laurels for the second time this season, the league announced Monday.
The junior co-captain garnered the award for the fifth time in her career after posting both goals in the Badgers’ 2-0 victory over Michigan State on Friday night.
Nosbusch (Mequon, Wis.) put the Cardinal and White on the scoreboard when she capitalized on a fumbled save by the MSU goalkeeper and pushed the ball into the goal in the 22nd minute.
She sealed the shutout win in the 62nd minute when she connected on a serve by sophomore Lindsey Johnson and placed a header into the upper-right corner of the net.
Nosbusch also earned the offensive player of the week honor for the week of Sept. 20. In Wisconsin’s 1-0 win over Tennessee, she tallied the game’s lone goal. Two days later, she followed up with another goal in Wisconsin’s 2-0 victory over Vanderbilt.
The Badgers (9-4-4, 6-1-2 Big Ten), who are currently second in the Big Ten, take a week off before competing in their last league game Nov. 1 against Northwestern. Wisconsin hosts the Wildcats at 7 p.m. at the McClimon Complex in Madison, Wis.
