MADISON, Wis. – Alexis Mitchell, a sophomore on the University of Wisconsin volleyball team, has been named a Midwest All-Region selection by COBRA Magazine. COBRA Magazine's purpose is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging black girls across the country to pursue the sport.
Mitchell, a 6-foot middle blocker, earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors this season. She also earned all-tournament honors at the InnTowner Invitational and Milwaukee/Marquette Invitational.
On the season, Mitchell led the Badgers with 78 total blocks and with a .299 hitting percentage. She averaged 2.31 kills per set, recording double-digit kills in nine matches. Mitchell had a career-high 19 kills at Ohio State on Nov. 14. She also had career bests in hitting percentage, assists, service aces and digs this season.
