Golfers slate an eighth place finish at the Kepler Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Wisconsin men's golf team slated an eighth place finish at the Robert Kepler Invitational on Sunday. Led by senior Jordan Elsen, the Badgers carded a 54-hole total of 294-305-299--898 at the par-71, 7,451-yard Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club.
Although Penn State took the lead in the first two rounds, it was Eastern Michigan University who came out on top. EMU tallied a 287-288-286--861 to cement the top position over PSU who finished just two strokes behind. Penn State's Kevin Foley finished in first place in the individual race with an eight-under-par 205.
Elsen tied for 17th place overall after finishing with a 72-76-73. The senior's 17th place finish boasts his best finish of the 2010 spring season.
Freshman Michael Sorenson finished just one stroke behind Elsen and tied for 21st place overall. Sorenson notched eight birdies in the tournament.
Sam Frank recorded his career-best finish in the two-day tournament. The freshman tallied a 73-77-76--226 and tied for 38th place overall. Frank surpassed his former career-best where he tied for 39th place at the Memphis Intercollegiate on Oct. 20, 2009.
Freshmen Thomas Welk and Anthony Aicher carded a 77-77-76--230 and 76-77-79--232, respectively. Welk tied for 53rd place overall and Aicher tied for 56th place.

The Badgers will hit the green again when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Crooked Stick Invitational from April 19-20.
