
Former Badger Gwen Jorgensen wins first Crazylegs title

MADISON, Wis. – Gwen Jorgenson, a track and cross country All-American with the Wisconsin women’s track and field team, returned to Madison to win her first Crazylegs Classic title on Saturday. The Milwaukee resident covered the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 48 seconds to beat last year’s champion Katrina Rundhaug of Madison. Rundhaug, who was also a track and cross country All-American for the Badgers, finished second in 28:01. Susanna Emond of Minneapolis finished third in the women’s race in 28:21.
Jeff Jonitus of Tinley Park, Ill., won the men’s Crazylegs Classic for the second straight year. Jonitus improved upon last year’s winning time to cross in 24:08 this time. Tyler Sigl of Seymour, Wis., finished second in 24:16 while Brian Butzler from Waukesha, Wis., crossed in third in 24:32.
A record 20,445 participants competed in the 8K run and two-mile walk.
