Independence, Minn. - After 54 holes of the 2010 Big Ten Men's Golf Championship, the Badgers are 11th place with a 60-over par 298-300-314--912 at Windsong Farm Club in Independence, Minn. It was a tough day on the course as the leader Illinois went from a 6-under-par 281-281--562 after 36 holes to remain in the lead with a 300 today for a 10-over par 281-281-300--862.
Playing in his first conference tournament, freshman Michael Sorenson is the top Badger improving from a tie for 16th with a 3-over-par 145 after the first day to a tie for 12th with a 5-over-par 71-74-73--218. The lone senior Jordan Elsen playing in his last Big Ten Tournament improved to 12-over-par 75-76-74--225 to tie for 28th.
NU's David Lipsky (67-72-71--210) returned to the top of the leader board after the third round. He is tied for first and one of only four players who remain under par with a 3-under 210. The other is Matt Thompson of Michigan is tied with a 73-69-68--210.
The tournament concludes Sunday with 18 holes starting at 8 a.m.
