Wisconsin senior rower Vicky Opitz (Middleton, Wis.) was named a 2010 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Pocock All-American, the organization has announced.
Opitz was a key member of Wisconsin's varsity eight that helped the Badgers produce an unprecedented season on the water. The well-decorated rower was previously named 2010 CRCA First-Team All-Region, UW's female 2010 Outstanding Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner and 2010 First-Team All-Big Ten.
Opitz and the varsity eight placed a program-best 10th at the 2010 NCAA Rowing Championships, pushing the team to a program-best seventh-place finish. The team also won its first Central Region title and Wisconsin's second-place varsity eight result at the 2010 Big Ten Rowing Championships clinched the Badgers first Big Ten rowing title.
In addition to her accomplishments at Wisconsin this past season, Opitz was also one of 27 collegiate rowers invited to attend the 2010 Women's Under 23 National Team Selection Camp.
