Waysata, Minn. - The Badger men's golf team opened its fall season at the Gopher Invitational at the Spring Hill Golf Club in Wayzata, Minn., placing 10th of 11 teams after 36 holes of play. The teams complete the 54-hole invitational with 18 holes tomorrow.
Louisiana State University leads the tournament after the first two rounds with a six-over-par 301-281--582. Kent State is second with a 584. In its first action of the year, UW put together rounds of 304-308--612 to finish in 10th place.
Kent State's John Hahn is the leader in the club house by four strokes with a nine-under par 68-67--135. A freshman from Brantford, ON Canada, leads the Badgers with Stephane Dubois finishing 11th after a one-over-par 71-74--145.
UW's other scores came from sophomores Michael Sorenson T16th at 73-78--151; Anthony Aicher T40th at 80-76--156; red-shirt sophomore Christopher Meyer 80-80---160; and red-shirt sophomore Thomas Welk is 58th with an 83-85--168.
